Teasing Machine takes Line Honours in SSE Renewables Round Ireland Race

Eric De Turckheim’s NMD 54 Teasing Machine has taken Monohull Line Honours in the SSE Renewables Round Ireland Race and has set the bar for the overall win under IRC for the race. Teasing Machine finished the 704NM race in an elapsed time of 3 Days  6 Hrs 11 Mins 23 Secs.

Congratulations to Britain's Adam Davis on Irens 63 Paradox3, which was first boat home for the multihulls winning Multihull Line Honours in an elapsed time of 3 Days  2 Hrs 51 Mins 59 Secs.

Pete Smyth's Ker 46 Searcher from the Royal Irish Yacht Club is expected to be the next boat to finish. While Smyth and his crew were racing through the North Channel on Tuesday night, the bulk of the remaining fleet comprising 38 boats are all spread from Malin Head to the mouth of the River Shannon.

A large number of arrivals are expected to reach Wicklow throughout Thursday 27th June by which time the overall winner should be declared.

A total of seven entries have now withdrawn from the race, the majority due to timing concerns as the conditions have made for slow progress for many of the back-markers.

However, back-marker Robert Marchant on race regular Fulmar Fever is persevering and is currently leading the Cruiser division so has every incentive to continue this 'Kilimanjaro of Sailing' event that has become a bucket-list item for many sailors and adventurers.
