The Kuwait Long Distance Record – Mission Accomplished
Mission accomplished for BOAT 17 Kuwait, crewed by Abdullatif Al Omani and Bader Al Dousari, which has set the new long-distance record: 61.97 nautical miles (114.768 km) completed in 1 hour, 31 minutes and 28 seconds, with an average speed of 73.95 km/h.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, with waves up to 2 meters around Kabara, the team delivered an outstanding performance, making the most of the boat’s technical set-up and the crew’s extensive experience.
The home team competed with an experimental technical package, powered by two Mercury 300 hp engines—innovative power units currently under UIM evaluation. This configuration provided exceptional agility, reduced weight and enhanced performance, all key factors in achieving the record.
Record achieved. Mission accomplished.
Event organizers praised the high standard of racing and the enthusiastic support from fans, noting that, even in its first-ever experience hosting such an event, the region delivered an outstanding spectacle. This edition further cements its reputation for world-class offshore powerboat competition.
